Web log analysis for CloudFront and Amazon S3

"As a statistics junkie, I just can't say enough good things about this product. Ever since I moved my site's images over to S3, I've felt like something was missing. Now, S3STAT has given me back my favorite obsession! Thank you!!!"

Logging Bucket

I'd like to re-enable our S3 bucket, and add our CloudFront bucket. However, both buckets already have logging enabled, and logs are being delivered to a third bucket. The paths and permissions are all set, and we have already collected months of logs.

The problem is, when I attempt to re-enable the S3 bucket and add the CloudFront bucket in the S3Stat UI, it doesn't detect the existing logging settings.. and it won't let me change the values in the text boxes on the page. I don't want to overwrite the logging settings. I want to continue to log both buckets to specific paths on the third bucket. Why can't S3Stat allow me to do this and simple let me enter the existing details?

Thanks.

Sorry about that. We don't currently allow any deviation from our default settings. It's just one less thing to worry about when trying to keep the nightly job alive for thousands of buckets. Unfortunately, the more flexibility we offer, the more troubleshooting we'll need to do, which transfers directly to higher prices.

Still, alternate logging configurations may one day be implemented. I'll keep you posted if and when we can accommodate your situation.

Hi Jason, any news in this matter?

We save our logfiles to "other" e.g. a bucket belonging to a second AWS account. The logfiles need to stay in that bucket for our second/backup stats solution.

Is it possible to keep S3Stat working and reading the logfiles with this setup?

AWS account 1:
[main CF content bucket> -> logs to

AWS account 2:
[log bucket> (need the log files to stay in this bucket)

* $5/month for sites with traffic up to 100,000 hits per day. $20/month for the rare few sites that exceed that.
