Comparing S3 Stats and Cloudfront Stats

I am trying to understand the differences between S3 stats and Cloudfront stats. Can someone please confirm the following:

1. Total # of hits on our S3 stats is about 4 times higher than total # of hits on cloudfront stats. I'm assuming this is simply because S3 stats include hits to log files and any other content stored in S3, while cloudfront only keeps track of hits to a streaming/download distribution. Correct?

2. For any particular video file, the # of hits on Cloudfront is about 3 to 4 times higher than on S3, a balance opposite from above. Is this because users may be connecting to videos while they are stored in an edgefront server cache; and while cached, there would be no direct "hit" on the S3 storage?

Any confirmation or correction of the above would be appreciated.
